Billings Catholic Schools announced Thursday that it will move forward with the construction of a new school building.
A
groundbreaking ceremony for the school, which will house kindergarten
through eighth grade, is set for 1:30 p.m. April 21. It will take place
at the building site with students, donors and school alumni in
attendance.
The school system has been eyeing a
plot of land at Woody Drive and Colton Boulevard for years as a new
school site. The diocese already owns the lot.
The new school will combine the pre-high-school grade levels under one roof. Currently, they are spread among three buildings.
The estimated cost of the project is
$18 million. Billings Catholic Schools officials previously said that
they want to have $9 million in hand before breaking ground.
